Boycott the Europeans
I have received the following email: Several weeks ago, Germany announced its decision to stop all arms sales to Israel. Since then, other countries have followed suit. I will certainly not buy European products anymore. When we said "Never again!", we meant it. Comments
How dare you instrumentalize the victims of the shoa for your own political cause ? Roy, Listen to this: NEVER AGAIN! I have started my boycott of European products and have many friends that have joined me. The reasons the Europeans are boycotting Israel have nothing to do with Israel's war on Palestinian terrorism - read the article above. Boycott the Europeans! Dear David, what exactly proves to you that "Europe is stuck in the mentality of 1933 and conditioned to think of Jews as defenceless entities." And what kind of reasoning is that, to counter a break of ARMS sales with a general boycott of imports? The EU hasn’t even imposed the fees on goods from the settlements yet, what they are threatening to do now for over 2 years ! I don’t see any coherent line of reasoning in the above article! All I see is an accumulation of prejudice and the inability to accept that there are people who do not think that brutal force against Palestinians can be justified by all means and is in Israel’s own interest. My feeling is, that you would call for a boycott, even if European leaders would be able to convince you, that they really do care about a free, independent, strong and peaceful Israel. And finally about the $10milion: Don't you think that someone besides muslim extremists and their supportes schould start to care about bringing education to Palestinians youth and giving them some future prospects? Posted by: Roy on February 5, 2003 02:41 PMDear David, I just heard that Germany is providing the Israeli army with patriots..... how does that fit into your picture of Europe? small correction of my last post: I meant that someone ELSE than (not besides) muslim extremists should start to ..... Politics makes such a strange bed, but I believe in boycotts because boycotts are a peaceful method of dissent that every consumer has available to them. If you are boycotting Germany and our favorite (not) toxic polluter Knauf Fiber Glass...you may want to ask "Are there GREENER INSULATION products on the market?" Insulation is inherently green because it increases the energy efficiency of homes and buildings. Studies have shown that home insulation currently saves 10.41 quadrillion(1) Btu’s per year (in the United States alone)! However, if one type of insulation is more effective than another, it can help save even more energy (and money). Studies at universities, national laboratories, private research facilities and hundreds of homes and buildings have shown that cellulose is 20% to 50% more effective than fiberglass.(2) Therefore, using the most conservative number of 20%, if cellulose were used in homes instead of fiberglass, there would be an additional savings of 2.1 quadrillion Btu’s per year - the equivalent of a 51-day supply of gasoline for the entire U.S.(3) Recycled Content Insulation can be an excellent, high quality end use for materials that would otherwise be dumped into landfills. Cellulose and fiberglass insulation have recycled contents varying from 0% to 85%. Cellulose contains from 75% to 85% post-consumer recycled newsprint.(4) Fiberglass products contain from 0% to 35% pre-consumer recycled glass.(5) Emissions Standing outside a cellulose plant, one can hear humming motors but there are no smoke plumes and no odors because there are virtually zero emissions. Manufacturing fiberglass generates glass dust and huge quantities of carbon dioxide from natural gas fired blast furnaces (manufacturing fiberglass insulation for just one home generates over 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide!(7) ). Fiberglass plants also generate enormous amounts of other chemicals used in its manufacture (formaldehyde, urea, polyvinyl acetate, chlorides, etc.). Sources: (1) North American Insulation Mfrs. Whatever your site is telling but it shows and reflects your real aims and even a child can make that out :) my friends if we boycott all the countries you mentioned this means we'll freeze and simply without the european technology we are almost nothing . following the truth, caring about the human being and specially the innocent childs is the only way we can all survive and live in peace. can we imagine how unclean the region will be after another war ? we are still thinking how to clean the uranium debris from the last war .I do not want to spend the rest of my life wearing a mask !!! how we'll eat and drink ,do you want the israeli childs to be handicaped and look like monsters like the iraqi childs ? do not forget the effects travel and can reach us very easy. The UN inspectors have found nothing till now and they are doing a great job so please let us help them to keep the world safe and clean . Roy, The "human rights" violations the IDF has been accused of have yet to be formally substantiated. It's interesting also how one incident viewed by so many people is recounted in so many ways, each time more and more elaborate and more and more horrific. And yet, when you look at the facts, there is no way that half of these events could have occurred. What HAS occurred is that a similar protest has all but destroyed Ahava's European market, Starbucks is pulling out of Israel, despite a letter I received from them only 2 weeks ago stating that they will stay in Israel no matter what it takes, etc. Israeli companies are suffering because uneducated people are buying into propaganda about Israel and the IDF as fact and using it to fuel their own anti-semitic beliefs, which can acceptably be translated into anti-Israel activism. Posted by: Rica on April 7, 2003 09:45 AMWhat a sad world, filled with hatred and despair. Since the beginning of the Jews, Jews have been persecuted, butchered, despised by so many people for so many reasons. Unfortunately, "still Dunce the Second reigns like Dunce the First" and this sad heritage is passed from generation to generation with lies, and sad, sad hatred. I don't think boycott is against jews but only against the policy of the State of israel in the occupied territories. Unluckily i have seen by my own eyes idf violeting the human rights of palestinians civilians (by using them as human shields, preventing them to reach medical cares etc.)and i sincerely believe that if this will stop no palestinian civial will support suicide bombing and murders of innocent civilians in Israel. do your research.
