Luciana Misura and censorship
Luciana Misura is a Brasilian woman living in the United States. She decided to create a list of blogs of Brasilians that have websites/blogs living outside of Brasil. I thought it was a great idea, and sent her an email with a link to FactsOfIsrael.com. To my suprise, she has refused to add a link to my site. She says politicals sites cannot be included - but that's not mentioned anywhere and many of the sites she does list have political content. After sending a message to many Brasilian bloggers, I have received a few emails of support, mostly from Brasilians living in the United States. That's because they understand what "free speech" is all about, and Luciana is having trouble with the concept: she censors opinions that might not fit into her definition of what Brasilians outside of Brasil should be saying. She created a list for Brasilians living outside of Brasil. I am a Brasilian living outside of Brasil, why does she specifically refuse to add a link to my site? Luciana, let's look up together the definition of anti-Semitism: Hostility toward or prejudice against Jews or Judaism. Discrimination against Jews. Although I don't think Luciana is racist, I do believe she's excluding my site simply because of its pro-Israel content. Sad. If you feel I'm right, please send Luciana an email at luciana@misura.org and ask her to include FactsOfIsrael.com in her list. Update: After I posted a comment about her censorship skills on her site, Luciana decided it was better to take down the comments all together instead of allowing her readers to see how she's not allowing my site to be listed simply because of its pro-Israel content. The supretion of information flow continues. I copy below the text of a message I sent to all Brasilian bloggers found in Luciana's list (in Portuguese). That said, I strongly protest your decision to exclude FactsOfIsrael.com on the basis that it is a site with a specific theme. Etc… Eu vejo so uma difference entres os blogs “normais” e meu site: I wanted to give some context to the Israeli/Palestinian/Arab conflict, so my site is not only a blog. Around the blog, there are many pages that cover the history, geography, stats, etc… of the conflict in addition to the daily blog. But is that enough to specifically rule me out of the list of Brazilians living outside of Brasil? A solucao e simples: 1) Fim a violencia, terrorismo e a mataria do Palestinian Islamic Jihad e Hamas de mulheres e criancas Israelenses. Boa Sorte, David Melle Comments
