Ha'aretz (www.haaretzdaily.com) reports that a security guard stopped a Palestinian suicide bomber from entering a Tel-Aviv disco. The guard, identified as Eli Federman, 36, managed to shoot at the Palestinian terrorist causing the killer's bomb to explode - injuring 5 unarmed civilian bystanders.

There were over 100 people in the disco, and if the Palestinian terrorist was successful in his murderous plans, many innocent civilians would have died.

This brings up the point that for every successful Palestinian terrorist attack there are dozens of failed attempts. Thanks to the Israeli Border Police and the IDF (Israel's army) for risking their lives while stopping these murder attempts.

A suicide bomber blew up a booby-trapped car late Thursday night, at the entrance to the "Studio 49" discotheque, at the corner of Kibbutz Galuyot and Abulafya streets, in southern Tel Aviv. Five people were lightly injured by the blast, which occurred at approximately 1 A.M.

Eyewitnesses said that the bomber tried to detonate the car at the entrance to the club. According to the police, the bomber tried to enter the nightclub, and, according to initial reports, a security guard suspected his ulterior motives, after which he proceeded to shoot and kill the bomber.

Tel Aviv District police commander Major General Yossi Sedbon praised the security guard, who Israel Radio identified as Eli Federman, 36. As Federman was shooting, the bomber detonated the explosive device. No one was in close proximity to the car, and therefore only five people were injured.

The explosion was heard throughout the streets surrounding the area. A large number of police forces arrived at the scene.

During a sweep of the area in search of additional explosive devices, police evactuated people at nearby nightclubs. Several large clubs are situated in the area, which is a popular destination for young adults on Thursday nights.

Shaul Mizrahi, owner of a nightclub called "Barbie," located near the scene of the blast, told Israel Radio that a terrorist tried to enter a club next door and security guards started firing at him.
